Avionics Selex ES is a leader in the design, development, manufacture, integration and support of Communication, Navigation and Identification (CNI) sub-systems and products for fixed and rotary wing platform applications, serving a wide range of operational requirements, including combat, transport and Search & Rescue. Our expertise in the design of integrated Communications, Navigation and Identification systems is the result of over 40 years of close partnership with the major aircraft manufacturers and platform integrators, as well as strong contribution in many key European and international development and modernisation programmes. Today, Selex ES’s avionics solutions are installed on board most advanced aircraft worldwide: fixed wing platforms (Eurofighter/Typhoon, Tornado, JSF, NATO AWACS, C-27J/C-130J, Predator UAV, etc.) as well as rotary wing platforms (NH-90 and several AgustaWestland helicopters such as AW101, AW129, etc.). Furthermore, Selex ES plays a leading role in NATO’s and Europe’s most important industrial consortia and collaborative programmes."

Communications

During missions, aircraft require robust and effective communications with ground, naval or airborne Command & Control stations and other co-operating assets, which may be close by or spread across the globe. Selex ES’s avionic communications products cover the entire HF, VHF, and UHF frequency range and support LOS, BLOS and satellite voice/data exchange among military aircraft and friendly forces on ground, air and sea.


Navigation

The company designs, develops and manufactures autonomous and radio-assisted navigation systems aimed at supporting all flight phases from take-off to en-route, approach and landing, including the execution of tactical mission profiles. Selex ES’s Doppler Velocity Sensor (DVS) is an autonomous navigation equipment that is able to compute the velocities of a helicopter based on the measurement of the doppler shift of a signal transmitted by the equipment itself.


Identification

Selex ES is leader in the development and production of advanced Identification Friend-or-Foe (IFF) systems to meet the most recent NATO and civil aviation standards, including Mode 5 and Mode S, for safe, efficient and secure multi-force, multinational operations. Our solutions offer proven Mode 5 interoperability, as demonstrated during extensive, joint Italy/USA interoperability tests.


Human Machine Interfaces and Lighting Systems

Through our subsidiary Sirio Panel, Selex ES provides human-to-machine electronic controls, display solutions and interior/exterior lighting systems for commercial and military aircraft,with over 30 years of experience in human-machine interfaces for aerospace systems with highly demanding requirements.
